Fire Commission

The Avery County Fire Commission is dedicated to providing the highest level of fire protection and prevention to the people of Avery County. Since the fire tax is for the well-being of the entire county, the Fire Commission has an obligation to deliver the best possible service within allocated resources. It is also part of the mission to deliver services in the most cost-effective manner through the different volunteer fire department units and to do so in compliance with applicable state statutes.

The Fire Commission is comprised of five board members. Regular meetings are presently held on the second Thursday of each month. All meetings are open to the general public. Public notices are displayed outside the Avery County Commissioners’ Boardroom in the Administration Building.
