AVERY COUNTY VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENTS
Avery
County Fire Departments are made up of dedicated volunteers
who man the departments, with the assistance of the Fire
Marshall and Assistant Fire Marshall, who are county
employees. The Avery County Fire Commission is the governing
board for the volunteer fire departments.
The Fire Departments
strive to offer the best service possible, which includes
updating and maintaining equipment, fire suppression,
fire prevention, auto extraction, and search and rescue.
Department volunteers also assist Emergency Medical Services
and Emergency Management in regard to man-made and natural
disasters.
The County’s
fire departments accept applications from individuals
who want to serve as volunteer firefighters. To apply,
contact the station directly. Applicants must be at least
18 years of age. More information can be made available
to you at the stations.
