The Avery County Health Department offers a wide array of services to residents of the County.

The Health Department provides and ensures the provision of these services:

  • Food, Lodging, and Institutional Sanitation

  • Individual On-site Water Supply

  • Sanitary Sewage Collection, Treatment and Disposal

  • Grade A Milk Sanitation

  • Communicable Disease Control

  • Vital Records Registration

  • Maternal Health

  • Child Health

  • Family Planning

  • Public Health Laboratory Support

Many other services offered include Breast & Cervical Cancer Control Program, Maternity Care Coordination Program, Child Care Coordination, School Health Programs, WIC Program, Health Education and Wellness Program, Sexually Transmitted Disease Clinic, Communicable Disease Program, and more.
