The Avery County Inspection Department is set
up to issue building permits, and to insure compliance with
the North Carolina Building Codes for building, electrical,
plumbing, mechanical, and fire. This insures the public safety,
health, and general welfare by providing for the administration
and enforcement of the N.C. code.
The Avery County Planning and Inspections Department-
- Administers land use, environmental, and building regulations
- Processes applications for major and minor subdivision
approvals, rezoning requests, special use permits, conditional
use permits, variances, text amendments, and planned development
applications
- Enforces the N.C. State Building Code as mandated by
State Statute
- Issues permits for construction of building, mechanical,
electrical, plumbing systems, and gas piping
- Conducts inspections to ensure code compliance
- Issues occupancy permits upon satisfactory completion
of work
