The Tax Assessor’s Office has the responsibility of valuing Real Property within the County for the purpose of taxation. The manner by which this is done is regulated by the state of North Carolina and is described in Subchapter II of Chapter 105 of the General Statutes of North Carolina. (Also known as the Machinery Act.) [Click here for the revaluation program] This method of taxation is applied uniformly on a statewide level and is intended to levy a fair and equitable tax to county residents.
